Meet Emily
FOUNDER/OWNER
Hi, I’m Emily.
I love incorporating music and movement, the outdoors, books, and art into therapy.
Specialties:
Professional Development on Neurodiversity
Special Education Advocacy and Consulting
I am a neurodivergent speech-language-feeding pathologist (SLP) who is passionate about helping my clients reach their full potential through safe care and free community based education.
I received a double B.A. in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences and Music Voice Performance with a minor in Linguistics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I later earned my graduate degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Northern Colorado.
I have worked in a variety of settings throughout my career and currently work part-time as an SLP in Boulder Valley School District. I have specific expertise in the areas of pediatric feeding therapy (problem feeding), childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), and stuttering therapy. My work in the schools continuously illuminates the benefits of a neuron-affirming, team-based approach to care and that is what I have set out to imitate in my own private practice.
In addition to my diverse work experiences, I have developed trainings and presented on topics for Boulder Valley School District and local community events including: “Neurodiversity in Schools”, “Fostering Communication through a Neuro-Affirming Approach”, “Supporting Neurodiversity within Pediatric Feeding Therapy Apporaches”, and more.
With my diverse background and experience, I have come to understand that the most effective way to support people is from a collaborative practice that respectfully considers and celebrates the client's culture, gender, race, strengths, interests, and neurodiversity. Living with ADHD and practicing as a school-based educator gives me the power to empathize with many of my clients. It allows me to hyper-focus on out of the box problem-solving and reshape our collective community to be inclusive and engaged with different kinds of minds. My missions is to use my business and my platform to advocate for safety within therapeutic practices, amplify neurodivergent voices, and foster an environment that affords my clients all the right opportunities to genuinely take flight.
